About the event

Why do we voluntarily put ourselves in uncomfortable situations?

The Psychology of Adventure

Why do we choose to wake up at 4am, ski uphill, climb things that scare us, sleep in a refuge or deliberately put ourselves outside our comfort zone?

This talk explores the psychology of adventure — and our fascinating relationship with fear, discomfort and challenge.

We’ll look at what happens in the brain and body when we face uncertainty, why fear can turn into excitement, the role of dopamine and the flow state, and how challenging ourselves can shape confidence, resilience and personal growth.

A chance to better understand why we seek adventure, why discomfort can feel rewarding, and what makes us keep coming back for more.
